Twisted Ring
Twisting the Wire
I took three pieces of copper wire and twisted them around one another. I then cut the ends so that when soldered, the wires would properly line up with one another.
Shaping
Before shaping the wire into a circular form, I flattened the wire using a hammer. This locked the pieces into place and created a flatter surface. I then used a soft mallet to shape the metal and locked the two ends into place.
Soldering
I dipped the ring in acid to clean it before continuing the soldering process. I first coated the ring in flux to protect the metal and then cut a piece of solder. Using a torch I heated up the ring and the solder until the solder melted and bonded with the ring. Once done I quenched it and put it in acid.
Shaping
One the ring was clean from the acid, I began to reshape the ring with a soft males until I was happy with shape.
Sanding
I filed down the access solder to smoothen out the ring. Then, I carefully sanded the ring as it was easy to bend due to the material. I hand sanded the outside of the ring but used a jeweler's wheel to sand the inside.
Polishing
I polished the outside of the ring first using the jeweler's wheel and then proceeded to buff the inside of the ring the same way that I sanded it. Once done I had to reshape the ring due to the jeweler's wheel bending it slightly.
